King of Fighters R-2 Gets Ported to Switch in July

If the Nintendo Switch has been great at anything, it is bringing back old good games into the spotlight. It’s strange how the Switch has not only become a good place to play new games, but also for exploring older releases you either missed or couldn’t play before. Such is the case for King of Fighters R-2, a Neo Geo Pocket Color game that is now seeing a Switch port this month. It will be joining SNK Gals’ Fighters as the second title from that platform that they port over to a modern console. You can check out trailers for these games, along with a bit of gameplay below:

Everything is all well and good, with the exception of the microscopically tiny screen. I am really hoping that these games have options to have the screen be bigger and get rid of the Neo Geo Pocket Color that’s occupying most of the space. Unless you can use the touch screen to press the buttons on it (and I don’t know why you would since the Switch already has buttons), then I don’t see why it should be there. In any case, I’m interested in seeing if the inspiration for Pocket Rumble still holds up today. Judging from the clips, it still looks pretty fun.
