Have you ever wondered how a Guilty Gear game with Dragon Ball Z characters would look like? If you have, then maybe you’ll know fairly soon thanks to Bandai Namco announcing a new fighting game called Dragon Ball Fighters.
It will be developed by Arc System Works and will have 2.5D graphics similar to the Guilty Gear Xrd games. The game is scheduled for an early 2018 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game will have 3-on-3 battle system and contain the “ultra high speed battles” and “flashy special moves” that the Dragon Ball series is known for.
Apparently, the press release for this was suppose to come out on June 12, but it was accidentally made public ahead of time. You can find the press release here and find the official Japanese website here after they officially announce this game.
Personally, I think this is awesome. I have always wanted a DBZ fighting game in this style. Instead of those weird and oversimplified fighters on 3DS and even on GBA, I always desired something along the lines of Blazblue, Guilty Gear, or at least like the older Budokai games. Even though the more recent DBZ games haven’t had the best track record, it seems like they are serious on making this a good game, and due to it’s brand recognition, there will be many eyes on it, mine included.
